Our story
Atlas the Detective began with a simple idea: a detective's job is to help people by finding the truth and establishing the facts, whilst being compassionate, understanding and resilient.
Most fictional detectives catch bad guys. Atlas is different. He solves mysteries by listening, noticing how people feel and understanding why things happen — so he can make things better. Along the way, children learn the skills that matter most: kindness, curiosity, courage and respect for every person they meet. Children will observe Atlas work through problems, disappointment, frustration, self-doubt, achievement and elation.
From the creator
For over 20 years, I investigated criminal and civil matters, and the biggest lesson I learned is that the most important clues usually come from people. Listening carefully, asking good questions, staying curious and treating everyone with respect solved more cases than anything else. Building respectful relationships was the foundation to building trust, integrity and success.
Policing taught me that real detective work is about helping people find the truth. I created Atlas so children can share in a similar journey to mine, and learn the same skills that guided me every day: noticing, listening, understanding, thinking clearly, critically and objectively and, helping others — because every person and everyone's situation matters. Atlas learns to understand diversity, inclusion, respect and hard work!
— Darren Ferguson, Creator of Atlas the Detective.
